I met Lola in the 5th grade in Rapid City, SD. We went all through school together. As kids, we played "school", and Lola always wanted to be the teacher. She carried out that dream, and was a great one. Lola was honest, had a great sense of humor, and was a loving, generous person. Last time I visited her in Gt. Falls Park Place, we had a great time remembering the good old days. What a wonderful difference one life made!! Rest in peace, dear friend.

I will always remember Aunt Lola as the person responsible for helping me get through junior high math. Although she was never my teacher she was always willing to tutor me. She will be missed by the entire family. Rest in Peace, Lola.

Lola was a wonderful, gentle lady who never failed to remember important occasions and was always happy to hear from you. She was also a heckuva card player, as I found out once when she came to Missoula with Jeanette. We played cards for hours, with her helping me overcome my poor skills the whole time. She was a born teacher.
I will miss her.

Lola was a dear friend to my family as well. She remembered us and our children with birthday gifts and cards for special occasions. I first met Lola when she offered to pick my husband up every day for school and then drop him off. We only had one car, and I had to drive to WJHS, so she really helped us out. One of my best memories of Lola was when our whole family went caroling on Christmas Eve (2005)at her house. She was so surprised and seemed to love hearing us all singing to her. (Lola was always too nice for her own good!) She was a generous, kind, and dear-hearted person. Rest in peace, Lola.

Aunt Lola was a huge part of my childhood and a most treasured friend to my whole family. For as long as I can rememer, she would call and ask one of us kids to meet her at our shared back fence, where she always delivered a plate of fresh cookies or sweet treats. I never realized as a child how much of her love and care were part of those gestures, but I suspect the exchange was as sweet for her as it always was for us. Aunt Lola was a special person beyond compare and I am glad to know that we were as much a special part of her life as she was of ours. I love her and miss her.

I HAD THE PLEASURE OF HAVING MISS WHITEHEAD FOR MY 8TH. GRADE MATH TEACHER (IN BELLE FOURCHE). SHE GOT US THROUGH "MODERN MATH" WITH ALL OF HER PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING. I ALWAYS THOUGHT SHE WAS A VERY BEAUTIFUL, KIND, AND PATIENT WOMAN. I HAVE NEVER FORGOTTEN THIS WONDERFUL TEACHER. I AM VERY SADDENED TO HEAR OF HER PASSING BUT I FEEL BLESSED TO HAVE KNOWN HER. MAY THE LORD BLESS ALL OF YOUR FAMILIES. GOD BLESS, DIANNE (SHOOP) BARCLAY

Ms. Whitehead was a wonderful mentor, teacher and woman. She was my study hall teacher at the Paris Gibson Junior High in the early 1980's and she always took the time to talk to any student about school and about life. She will truely be missed by all.

Lola was our next door neighbor for 35 years. My sisters, brothers and I called her Aunt Lola because she was way more than just a neighbor and friend.
I have great memories of Christmas parties in Aunt Lola's basement, and the graduation party we had together in 1978 when she got her master's degree and I graduated from high school.
Thank you to the students who have written about Lola in this guest book. I never had Lola as a teacher so it's nice to hear what a wonderful teacher she was.

I had lost track of Lola and was saddened to read of her passing first in the Rapid City Journal, then in the Great Falls Tribune. She was my roommate my last year of college at BHSU in 63-^4. Lola was a very friendly, jolly, kind and generous young woman. I remember she always let me use her typewriter since I didn't have one. Her obituary and the comments posted here tell me she must have led a wonderful life helping students and making friends. Like the others have said, I'm sure there is laughter and joy in heaven. God bless you all. Pat (Rhynard) Buck Casper, WY
