Greetings,
As many of you know Toni Nicholson has decided to move south to Arkansas and will be leaving Mid-April. A farewell lunch will be held on Saturday April 7th at Sanford’s on Omaha Street in Rapid City at 11:30 AM. It is going to be tough to see Toni leave since she has been so good about keeping the class together. Toni has agreed to continue doing those same things when she moves to Mountain Home. We will still miss having her right here in Rapid City. What I would like to have you do is: 1) Respond and let me know if you will be there and how many will be with you so I can make sure we have enough room at Sanford’s. In addition if you respond I will know that your e-mail address is correct. 2) Let me know if there are people in the area that are not on the list and their email address and I will get their name on the list. 3) We have a Standing Class of “61” lunch the last Tuesday of every month at Sanford’s at 11.30 Am. I send a reminder – please let me know if you want to be on the reminder list. I will be sending a reminder in a week for the Standing Lunch. Thanks to each of you --- following is the text of Toni’s email. Duke

Dearest Family and Friends, When you read this, you’ll be shaking your heads, as I still am and I’m the one who has made this decision. After making a visit, I have decided that on April 17, 2007, I will be leaving Rapid City to move to a retirement community in Mountain Home, AR—yes, I’ve come full circle!! I am, & have been, very happy here & love the area dearly but as I approach the “winter of my life”, I feel it is necessary to make plans for my advanced years; the same option that I’ve chosen costs twice as much in Rapid City & I just cannot afford that. . . .I shall be living in a 1600 sq. foot twin home at the Good Samaritan Village of Mountain Home, the same folks that run Echo Ridge, here in Rapid; I will have more space & amenities than what I now have on Idlewild Ct., for the same cost, & the home is only 2-years old; if ever I need it, there is an assisted living unit & a nursing home on the grounds; also, I will be saving $300+ a month in utilities, lawn care, etc-- the biggest plus is that I’ll be much closer to Jeff as it’s only a day’s drive from there to Ponder—in addition, my dear friends in Shreveport, Ron & Vicki Cannon, whom I’ve known for over 30 years, are moving there, too, at the end of March. Mountain Home is located in north central Arkansas—it is about 2 hours south of Springfield & Branson, MO and about 3 hours north of Little Rock so is easily assessable; it sits in the Ozark Mountains, between two lakes, & has about 13,000 residents; the area has four seasons (average snow fall is only 7 inches but. . .), there is a Wal-Mart, Home Depot, & Lowe’s in town, as well as a wonderful medical center; also, a nice sized library and a brand new Hospice House so I can continue with my reading and volunteer work—oh, & did I mention quilt shops?!?!? I’m hoping that you will be supportive and understanding of my decision & remember, my door is always open for you to visit—you’ll even have your own bathroom as there are two in the home; you’ll receive a change of address card as soon as possible so “y’all come, now, here?” Much love, |
