Donald E. Winchester

RAVENEL, S.C. — Donald E. Winchester, 67, Ravenel, husband of Betty A. (McCurdy) Winchester, died Sunday, April 10, 2011, at his residence. Donald was born Aug. 21, 1943, in Aberdeen, S.D., son of the late James P. Winchester and Della M. (Neitzel) Winchester. He graduated from Rapid City (S.D.) High School. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #206 in Megget, S.C., and was a Master Mason. He was an automotive technician for Jones Ford. Surviving in addition to his wife, Betty, are, a son, James D. Winchester (Chanté) of Johns Island, S.C.; a daughter, Cheryl A. Winchester of Zebulon, Ga.; a grandson, Aaron M. Winchester of Johns Island, S.C.; three granddaughters, Shatasia J. Simmons and Madison M. Winchester, both of Johns Island, and Sara E.Winchester, Zebulon; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Calvin “Pat” and Sara McCurdy; four brothers, Leonard (Geri) Aberdeen, Michael, Sturgis, S.D., and Leland (Pamela), and Jeffery, both of Rapid City; and five sisters, Pamela (Mike) Kellogg, Albany, Ore., Suzette (Dale) Miller, Keystone, Ind., and Camella (Robert) Dietzman, Michelle and Angela Winchester, all of Rapid City; and numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be at 11 a.m.EDT Thursday,April 14, at James A. Dyal Funeral Home in Summerville, S.C. Burial will follow at First Baptist Church of Ravenel Cemetery in Ravenel. Friends and family may call at the funeral home from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today. Flowers will be accepted.
