RAPID CITY - Darryl Bruce Dippert, 63, Rapid City, died Monday, Feb. 12, 2007 at his home after a battle with cancer.
Darryl was born in Rapid City on Feb. 19, 1943, to Louis and Dorothy (Carlson) Dippert. He was the second of six children. He graduated from Rapid City Central High School in 1961. He married Michele Douglas in 1963 in Rapid City and they had 2 children, a daughter, Shawn and a son, Shane.
After living in Rapid City, they moved to Wyoming where he worked for A.Y. McDonald Plumbing and Heating as the Branch Manager for 18 years while living in Cheyenne and Riverton.
After divorcing, Darryl returned to Rapid City, where he worked for the Dance Depot and the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center as a security guard for a number of years and later in Deadwood. He retired in 2004.
Darryl was known by many and loved by all who knew him. He had a quick wit unmatched by anyone. Darryl could fix, build and create anything. He had many talents, including playing his guitar, dancing and woodworking. Many fond memories of Darryl and his brother Steve playing for family holidays, picnics and get togethers will continue to be shared.
Darryl is survived by his daughter, Shawn McMillan, Casper, WY; his son, Shane Dippert, Wasilla, AK; one grandson; three granddaughters; three brothers; two sisters and his companion of 20 years, Dottie Sharp. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial has been established to benefit Hospice of the Black Hills, 1011 11th St., Rapid City, SD 57701.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2007 at Behrens-Wilson Funeral Home with Sister Susan Pohl officiating. Interment will follow at Pine Lawn Memorial Park.
